Echolis holds some of the most sensitive things a person can write: wounds, fears, the parts you have never shown anyone. Privacy here is not a compliance page. It is the precondition for honesty, so this page is written to be read.

What we store

When you use Echolis with an account, we store on our servers:

Guest reflections store nothing. If you try Echolis without an account, your words exist only in that response and are gone when you leave.

Voice input (iPhone app). When you tap the microphone, your speech is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition, on your device or on Apple's servers under Apple's privacy policy. Echolis never receives, records or stores the audio. We only get the text, and only when you tap send.

What we never do

We never train AI models on your writing. Your reflections are processed by our AI providers (Anthropic for responses, OpenAI for search embeddings) solely to generate your session. Under their API terms, that data is not used to train their models either.
We never sell or share your data. No advertising, no brokers, no third-party analytics. The only measurement we do is a first-party, cookie-free event counter (page visited, reflection completed) tied to a random id, never to your writing.
Deletion is real. Delete your account in Settings and everything above is permanently removed from our database: reflections, summaries, memories, patterns, feedback. The only copies that remain are our daily backups, kept for at most 90 days so we can recover from an outage; deleted accounts disappear from them as the backups age out, and we never restore a deleted account from a backup on request.

Your story belongs to you

You can export everything at any time from Settings, not as a data dump but as a readable document: your reflections, what each part said, and the patterns that emerged, in order. It stays legible and meaningful even if you never open Echolis again. We would rather be chosen every month than be difficult to leave.

If you share with a practitioner

Hard moments

If what you write signals a crisis, Echolis stops the parts simulation and answers in one plain voice with grounding and human resources. Those messages are handled with care: they are not used for patterns, summaries, insights or memory, and a practitioner you connect with does not see them in your brief. When a message reaches the acute level (a plan to end your life, a plan to hurt someone, losing touch with reality while in danger, or an overdose), the founder receives an alert that contains only an account id, the time, the language and which of those kinds it was, never your words, so a human can decide whether to check on the account.

Instead of remembering those words, Echolis keeps one quiet note: that you went through a hard moment, when, and how serious it was. It holds none of your words and is removed 30 days after the last such moment. Its only use is to keep the voices gentle with you and never bring that moment up unless you do. It is never used for e-mails, offers, prices or a practitioner's view. It is listed in your export ("Notes Echolis keeps quietly") and deleted with your account.

Honest limits of a prototype

Echolis is an early product built by a very small team. Data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database, encrypted in transit; we are working toward at-rest and user-held-key encryption as described in our roadmap. Echolis is not therapy, not diagnosis, and not for users under 18.
